Southern winds on Gouwee usually produce nice conditions, and today it certeanly did. First had a short session on the Exocet Cross, but conditions seemed allright for speed, so switched to the speedboard pretty soon. First tried 5.4, but that was just a bit too small, 5.8 was spot on. First speeds weren't that impressive, just over 60 km/h or so.
Took a break then, as Raymond offered to produce some coffee. While he was preparing it somebody mentioned that the wind seemed up even more, so just went for 2 more runs before coffee was ready.
And straight from the beach slammed in a MASSIVE gust. It felt really fast, but when I watched the GPS my eyes almost popped out: 69.9!!! Wow, never even got close to such a speed on the Gouwzee!
After that I had a few more decent runs with speeds up to 65, so improved my Gouwzee PB quite a bit.
In between did some flatwater jumping as well. So, yes, I had fun today.
Some of the other guys will not agree, as they arrived just before or after the wind died from 20-25 knots to around 2.... |
